The Wealth and Poverty theme’s 2014-15 Documentary Film Screening Series brings Robert Reich’s Inequality for All– A Passionate Argument on behalf of the Middle Class to Ohio University on Oct. 16.
All faculty and students are invited to this free event on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 9 a.m. in the Baker Center Theater.
Inequality for All, produced by Jacob Kornbluth in 2013, features Robert Reich, a best-selling author of 13 books and former U.S. Secretary of Labor (1993-97), teaching “Wealth and Poverty” at UC Berkeley.
“This movie is critically important. It exposes the heart of our economic problem. Something that’s been getting worse and worse for over 30 years—widening inequality,” says Reich on the film’s website. While explaining how important it is to step up and take action against growing inequalities, Reich states that “one of the best ways to help people understand the challenges we face is with a movie that can grab an audience and move them to action. And this movie will do exactly that.”
The Wealth and Poverty theme and Certificate seek to address the growing challenges of inequality and poverty in society, both locally and globally, asking questions such as: Why are some so rich and some so poor?, What would be the cost of growing inequality?, and How could we fight poverty together in our community?
