The Nanoscale & Quantum Phenomena Institute Seminar series presents Dr. Dafei Jin discussing “Quantum Dynamics of Single Electrons in Noble-Gas Quantum Liquids and Solids” on Oct. 1 at 4:10 p.m.
Jin is a staff scientist at the Center for Nanoscale Materials at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. He earned a Ph.D. in low-temperature physics from Brown University and has done postdoctoral research in nanoscale quantum electronics and optics at MIT and UC Berkeley. His research interest covers a variety of condensed matter and quantum material systems, including superconductor, superfluid, Bose-Einstein condensate, and single-electron single-photon based quantum devices. Jin is currently leading the Quantum Matter and Devices Lab in CNM at Argonne.

Abstract: I will present our experimental and theoretical studies of nonequilibrium quantum dynamics of single electrons in quantum liquid helium, as well as the exotic quantum electronic and optical behaviors at the interface of solid neon and liquid helium. I will also present our recent experimental progress on the ultralow-temperature circuit quantum electrodynamic (CQED) architecture that uses the trapped electrons in quantum liquids and solids as reconfigurable long-coherence qubits.
