Candace Walsh, a doctoral student in the Creative Writing program at Ohio University, published her creative nonfiction essay, “Portrait of a Becoming,” on Pigeon Pages.
The story is, as Pigeon Pages puts it, “about the complicated relationships women have with each other and with themselves.” It’s also about a photograph, desire, identity, and New York City.
Walsh wrote Licking the Spoon: A Memoir of Food, Family, and Identity (Seal Press), a New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards winner, and has edited three essay anthologies. She is a first-year fiction PhD student working on a novel. Another recently published essay, “Dear Francine du Plessix Gray,” ran in the New Limestone Review. She is a reader for New Ohio Review.
