Dr. Melissa Figueroa of the Modern Languages Department organized a panel on Early Modern Spanish Literature and also presented at the well-attended panel.

Drs. Tania de Miguel Magro (West Virginia University), Erin Alice Cowling (MacEwan University) and Glenda Y. Nieto-Cuebas (Ohio Wesleyan University), visited Ohio University on Nov. 12 to present their recent work on translation and Early Modern Spanish literature.

De Miguel Magro discussed her work with graduate students translating entremeses (interludes), and Cowling and Figueroa demonstrated that the comparison of translations of a single text can be a good exercise for undergraduate students to think about language and audience. Nieto-Cuebas served as a respondent. Members of the Translation Club were present and moderated the panel.

The Modern Languages Department would like to thank the presenters, as well as those who attended and engaged in the lively discussion, for sharing their knowledge.
