The Contemporary History Institute announces a panel a panel discussion of the impact and legacy of Jeane Kirkpatrick’s 1979 thesis on “Dictatorships and Double Standards” on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m. in Baker 242.
The panel features:
- Dr. Paul Milazzo, Associate Professor of History at Ohio University, introduction
- Dr. Nukhet Sandal, Associate Professor and Chair of Political Science at Ohio University, moderator
- Dr. Russell Crandall, Professor of Latin American Studies at Davidson College, on the United States and Latin America
- Dr. Mohammad Ayatollahi Tabaar, Associate Professor of International Affairs at the Bush School at Texas A&M University, on Iran and the United States
In the thesis, “the Former U.N. Ambassador explains why the rationalist spirit has, with dangerous effect, played too strong a role in U.S. foreign and domestic policy,” says the Amazon book site.
