The Ohio University Anthropology Club and Students for Law, Justice & Culture present a student-led panel, Imagining International Justice, on Thursday, April 3, at 6 p.m. in Ellis 214.
The panel focuses on the ways people around the world understand and seek justice, with special attention to the politics of truth, law, and reconciliation in divided societies.
Five students will make presentations on their independent research projects. Participants include:
- Celia Burke (Anthropology, War and Peace Studies): Beyond the Walls: Understandings and Representations of Injustice in Derry, Northern Ireland
- Phally Chroy (Southeast Asian Studies): Enterprise and Justice: The Art of Post-Genocide Cambodia
- Elizabeth Cychosz (Journalism, Anthropology): NAGPRA and Repatriation as Transitional Justice
- Jenna Lada (Anthropology): “We Missed Out on the Troubles”: Understanding the Identity of Young Men in Post-Conflict Northern Ireland
- Samantha Rommel (Anthropology): A Complex Divide: Navigating Peace Walls and Interfaces in Northern Ireland
Panelists were selected by a committee of faculty members from Sociology and Anthropology. Dr. Haley Duschinski, Director of the Center for Law, Justice & Culture, will moderate the panel.
The panel is part of the Anthropology of International Justice Spring Series, sponsored by Anthropology Club; STAND Against Genocide; Students for Law, Justice & Culture; Student Senate; and the Center for Law, Justice & Culture.

Dr. Elizabeth Drexler, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of Peace and Justice Studies at Michigan State University, will speak on human rights in East Timor and Indonesia on April 15 at 5 p.m. in the Baker Multicultural Center.
Dr. Sarah Wagner, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at George Washington University, will speak on international intervention in post-war Srebrenica on April 17 at 5 p.m., in Scripps 111.
