Dr. Ghirmai Negash, Professor of English at Ohio University, was referenced in a Los Angeles Times articled headlined “Nipsey Hussle had a vision for South L.A. It all started with a trip to Eritrea.”
The rapper Hussle was fatally shot recently in Los Angeles. Before coming to OHIO, Negash was the founder and former chair of the Department of Eritrean Languages and Literature at the University of Asmara (2001-2005).
Over the years, the country has struggled to find a way to rebuild, said Ghirmai Negash, a professor of English and African literature at Ohio University. The current government, in place since the country’s independence in 1991, has been compared with North Korea.
