The Psychology Colloquium Series presents Dr. John Mitchell on “ADHD and Substance Use: Developmental Outcomes and Behavioral Mechanisms” on Friday, March 29, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102.
Dr. Mitchell is an Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine. He received his doctorate in 2009 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Mitchell’s research primarily focuses on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) across development, including treatment development and substance use comorbidity. His current ongoing research projects involve investigations of the preliminary efficacy of mindfulness meditation for adults with ADHD, the role of emotion dysregulation in adult ADHD smokers, and the novel application of technology (e.g., ecological momentary assessment and geographical data) to characterize smoking in ADHD adults.
