The Environmental & Plant Biology Colloquium Series presents Dr. Brandon Sinn discussing “Leveraging Phylo-Comparative Genomics to Unravel Molecular and Morphological Transitions” on Feb. 1 from 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Porter Hall 104.
Sinn is a postdoctoral fellow at West Virginia University.
Abstract: Genome-scale sequencing and a burgeoning amount of morphological and physiological data alongside ever-improving genetic resources now provide the bioinformatic infrastructure necessary to address questions involving the precursors and consequences of morphological, genomic, and life history transitions in groups of non-model species. In this presentation, I will discuss how I use genomic data to infer phylogenetic relationships and leverage these hypotheses to study processes of morphological and genomic evolution in angiosperm lineages. These results provide insights into the generation and maintenance of biodiversity, and reveal processes underlying genetic and
