Career Week | Get Your Resume or CV Ready Now!

Whether you are applying for an internship, student worker position, part-time job, full-time position, or graduate school, you are going to be asked for a resume or CV.

We understand that everyone’s baseline knowledge of structuring and formatting resumes or CVs may vary, so we are amping up our resume review process during the 2019 College of Arts & Sciences Career & Networking Week!

Here are your options:

Walk-In Wednesday – Professional Resume Review

  • 9  to 11 a.m. & 1 to 4 p.m., Wilson Hall Administrative Building 104
  • Take advantage of a 10-minute drop-in session to review your resume with me; I specialize in coaching Arts & Sciences majors. No appointment needed.

Alumni & Student Networking Reception

  • 3:30 to 6 p.m. (Networking Reception will continue until 7 p.m.)
  • Staff members from the Career and Leadership Development Center will have options for you to have your resume reviewed! Stations will include:
    • “Starting or Reviewing a New Resume”
    • “Updated Resumes (Previously reviewed, but changes have been made)”
    • “Final Resume (Using for Internship/Job Applications)”
  • Employers and alumni will also be on site to review your resume or CV.  Specifically, we have stations focusing on government jobs, liberal arts, sciences, and more. Additionally, there will be a review station for CVs for those applying to professional and graduate school.

You can also bring in a draft of your resume to the CLDC located in Baker 533 for a 10-minute drop-in between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. No appointment needed!

Basic Criteria for a Resume:

  • Resume is at least one full page.
  • Contact information at the top of the resume includes name, email, and phone.
  • Fonts are professional and easy-to-read in 10-12 point font.
  • All format elements are consistent throughout the document including fonts, bolding, italicizing, and use of capitals.
  • All work experiences include a description of accomplishments, transferable skills, or relevant job duties.
  • Begin each bullet point with an action verb in the appropriate tense. If the experience has concluded, it should be written in past tense.
  • All work experiences list the organization name, your title, location, and start and end dates.
  • List the formal title of your degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts in History) and the date you did or will graduate (e.g. May 2020).
