With Use Up, Career Closet Needs Donations of Professional Clothing

Woman looks at clothes on ranks in the Career Closet.

With visits to the Ohio University Career Closet this fall already outpacing last year, the closet is in need of donated professional clothing

Students preparing for interviews and job fairs can “shop” at the closet at no cost. Students are free to borrow or keep the clothes they select from the closet.

“We are particularly in need of women’s and men’s blazers and neutral colored shirts in all sizes. We are also looking to start collecting shoes and men’s belts,” says Dori Branch, Assistant Director of the Career and Leadership Development Center’s Mentorship Programming.

How to Donate Professional Clothes

Alumni and community members can donate professional and business casual clothing to the Career Closet.

Donations of lightly used, professional clothes can be delivered to the Career and Leadership Development Center, located at Baker University Center 533.

The mailing address is OHIO Career and Leadership Development Center, 1 Ohio University, Athens, OH, 45701.

“If you’re planning on coming to campus in the future, maybe for Homecoming, plan on donating to the Clothes Closet,” says Lisa Cohen, Director of External Relations for the College of Arts & Sciences.

Making the Job Search Less Stressful

“The Career Closet is an exciting addition to the CLDC,” Kacey Schaum, Assistant Director of the career center. “The internship and job search is already a stressful time for our students, so I am glad that our office and campus community can take the worry of buying new interview clothing away for those who need the resource.”

“Anyone can donate business casual and business professional items to the CLDC Career Closet by dropping them off at our office on the fifth floor of Baker University Center. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” she adds.
