The College of Arts & Sciences now offers three master’s degrees well-suited for secondary schoolteachers who are seeking opportunities to earn the necessary credentials to teach college-level, dual enrollment courses.

The newest online master’s is the non-thesis M.S. in Chemistry, which is designed both for teachers preparing to teach dual enrollment and for working professionals. “The program’s flexibility, excellent faculty and incorporation of professional development through the non-thesis option provide students with core knowledge and skills in the chemical sciences,” says Dr. Jennifer Hines, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry.

“Ohio University’s Master of Social Science program has been providing content specific courses for K-12 social studies teachers for over 30 years,” says Dr. Brian Shoen, Associate Professor of History. “Available entirely online, the program’s excellent faculty, flexibility, and reasonable cost have attracted students from across the country. The program is particularly well suited for secondary school teachers who are seeking opportunities to earn the necessary credentials to instruct college-level courses in history and political science.”

The online M.A. in English program is designed for secondary teachers, especially those who want to teach college-level courses in that state of Ohio’s new College Credit Plus program,” says Dr. Linda Rice, Professor and Chair of English. “Teachers from out-of-state also may apply.”
