Do you know how to learn?
This question seems like a no-brainer, but when you really think about it, effective learning takes a lot of practice. If you feel you often copy others’ learning styles – your crazy roommate, your classmates, even your professors and TAs – pause and give more thought to your own learning personality.
Luckily, here at Ohio University, we have the Academic Achievement Center, which teaches students how to learn and study while exploring their own learning styles. The center was renovated last summer and is now conveniently located on the second floor of the Alden Library. The AAC offers Study Skills Coaching where you can meet individually with an center staff member to discuss and strategize your learning habits. Or if you prefer something more self-led, you can check out their online resources. The center also offers tutors for a variety of courses, along with Supplemental Instruction and the Math and Science Centers.
So don’t wait! Start preparing your strategy now to ace that exam and retain the knowledge that took many long nights to acquire. And most importantly, enjoy the process of learning!
