The Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (INPP) presents Jerry Yang, of George Washington University, on “Three New EFT Approaches to Nuclear System” on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m. in Clippinger Labs 354.
Abstract: This talk contains three topics. First, on the nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction level, to resolve the issue of the conventional chiral EFT approach (Weinberg power counting), a new power counting which is free of the renormalization group problem is introduced. Then, I will introduce an alternative way to apply the EFT interaction in truncated model space to perform ab-initio calculations, which is aimed to obtain more systematical control under the limitation of computational power. Finally, recent approaches toward a systematic treatment of effective interactions within the energy density function (EDF) framework will be discussed. Results of nuclear matter up to NLO based on this approach will be presented.
