Ohio University alum Michael Moehring ’10 is a Research Chemist with Gotion, a fast-growing company that aims to innovate in the electric vehicle technology, including lithium batteries and related systems.

Moehring earned a B.S. in Forensic Chemistry from the College of Arts & Sciences.
“I had two short-term temp jobs when I first graduated,” he says. “I started at my current job as a temp, and after six months was hired on as a full employee. I will have been here for seven years come February.”
Moehring’s area of work is in electrolytes for lithium ion batteries in electric vehicles.
“I often do a couple of projects at once, but one of the main ones I am working on now is optimizing electrolyte in cells utilizing LFP cathode material for low temperature cycling. I also supervise my company’s sampling business, where we make small-scale samples of electrolytes or their components and send them to customers,” he says.
OHIO memory: “My stand-out memory that has positively influenced my career isn’t chemistry based but in my final year, when I was a part of residence life. I received a grant to put on a Valentine’s Day dance for all the people ATCO helps out. It helped to teach me a lot about project management and how to help make connections for things I need to set up. The whole thing turned out really well so I was very happy with the results.”
