The Psychology Department Colloquium series presents Dr. Richard G. Heimberg of Temple University on “Social Anxiety Disorder: The Role of Emotion (Dys)Regulation in Its Nature and Treatment” on Friday, Nov. 1, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102.
Heimberg is the David Kipnis Distinguished Faculty Fellow Professor and Director of the Adult Anxiety Clinic of Temple in the Department of Psychology at Temple University.
After a brief description of the nature of social anxiety disorder, Heimberg will examine the suppression of emotional expression in social anxiety and the relationship of expressive suppression, cognitive reappraisal, and beliefs about emotions to the outcome of cognitive-behavioral therapy for social anxiety disorder. Self-report, weekly monitoring, interview, and fMRI data will be presented.
