Ohio University alum Kelly K. Wesolosky ’02 is a Community Outreach Specialist with the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office. She began working with the FBI in 2008, directing the Division’s Citizens’ Academy—an annual eight-week training course that she continues to oversee.

In addition to earning a B.A. from the College of Arts & Sciences at OHIO in Economics and Spanish Language and Literature, Wesolosky earned an MBA in Human Resource Management and a Masters of International Business in Corporate Development from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business.

From 2010 until 2016, Wesolosky served as the Public Affairs Chair of the Western Pennsylvania Human Trafficking Coalition. In this role, she coordinated networks of law enforcement officials, educators, and social and religious community organizations, combining their resources and knowledge to combat human trafficking in the region.

She is currently the director of FBI HOPE (Heroin Outreach Prevention and Education), a program that Wesolosky herself founded. The organization, which consists of three branches, focuses on education, prevention, and awareness surrounding opioid abuse. Wesolosky and her staff work with students, parents, educators, and medical professionals to devise methods for educating the community and combating the opioid epidemic.

Additionally, Wesolosky is currently the program director of the FBI Safe Schools Program, which focuses on children’s cyber safety.

“This program incorporates the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the FBICAAA Pittsburgh Chapter working together to spread vital information to parents, schools, children and teens, in order to keep them safe online,” Wesolosky explains.

Wesolosky’s work also has taken her to both Latin America and Europe, including location-specific work in Mérida, México, and Barcelona.

“Being selected as a Notable Alum for the College of Arts & Sciences has been a truly humbling and amazing experience. My years at Ohio University created the vital foundation necessary to prepare me for success in my professional and overall success in life’s ongoing changes and challenges. The welcoming, positive ambiance of the university and surrounding Athens Community continues to emulate a culture of innovation that is infectious to all who visit. I look forward to continuing my relationships with the university and connecting with current and future students.”
