The Food Studies theme offers two study abroad global experiences, one in Sicily and one in Cuba, with the Office of Global Opportunities.
Italy: Food in Sicily is May 11-30, 2018. Come experience the cultural and historic food ways of Sicily, the Mediterranean’s largest island. Explore Sicily’s Eastern “Greek” and Western “Roman” coasts to see and taste this unique island’s rich history of food traditions.
Food in Cuba: Policy and Practice is over spring break 2018. With 80 percent of the world’s population now living in cities, urban areas are increasingly important places in developing ecologically sustainable food systems. Cuba provides a fascinating and compelling case study in the challenges and opportunities of feeding urban populations through nearby agricultural production sites.
