Ohio University Welcomes the White Ribbon Campaign, April 13

Help stop violence against women by coming to visit an information table outside of Baker on Thursday, April 13, from 1-4 p.m.  This table is open and encourages all students of any race, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, or culture to attend and show support.

The table will feature white ribbons that symbolize the White Ribbon Campaign.  The White Ribbon Campaign was started in Canada by a group of men in the aftermath of a massacre of female students in 1989. Groups of men gathered together to take a pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls.  They also promote gender equality, healthy relationships, and a new version of masculinity.

The campaign was brought to the United States and has been adopted by universities all over the country. Now it is Ohio University’s turn.

The table will also be distributing pamphlets of information about the importance of this campaign and the rates of violence against women in the United States.

Sport a white ribbon to show your stance and pledge to help put a stop to violence against women.

This event is hosted by Dr. Kelly Faust’s Violence Against Women class.
