The Fire to iPhone theme sponsors a “DIY Science Fiction Conference: Speculative Fiction Across the Liberal Arts” on Oct. 28, 2016. The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Baker Multipurpose Room at Ohio University.
All Ohio University faculty and students are welcome to attend. Activities include in the “TARDIS” room includes a tin foil hat making station, space food treats, sign up for sci fi club, an accapella group performance, movies, and a a three-dimensional printer demonstration. The other room features academic panels and discussions during the day.
The acapella group “Section 8” also will perform.
The keynote speaker is Dr. Marie Lathers on “Canals on Mars: The Intersection of Science and Fantasy Literature” on Oct. 28 at noon in the Baker Center Multi-Purpose Room.
Lathers is the Elizabeth M. and William C. Treuhaft Professor of Humanities and Professor of French at Case Western Reserve University.
