Starting in Fall 2016, Dr. Susan Burgess, a Professor of Political Science, will be teaching POLS 4040: Civil Liberties.
The course is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:20 p.m.
The course counts as an elective in the Law, Justice & Culture certificate program. It is offered as part of the Making & Breaking the Law theme.
The only prerequisite for taking the class is POLS 2200: the Politics of Law.
The course offers a problem-based approach to American civil liberties law.
Dr. Burgess specializes in public law, gender and sexuality, popular culture and radical politics.
Her research has been featured in popular press including The New York Times and academic journals. She has been a member of Ohio University’s Political Science Department since 2000. She was the Director of Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies at Ohio University from 2000 to 2005.
