Food for Thought | Paul Patton, April 21, “Forgotten Plants, Forgotten People”

 

The Food for Thought Speaker Series presents Dr. Paul Patton on April 21, at 5 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Room, Alden 319. “Forgotten Plants, Forgotten People: Prehistoric Native American Food Tradition in the Ohio Valley.”

Join the Food Studies Theme and the Dept. of Sociology and Anthropology Assistant Professor of Anthropology and Food Studies, Paul Patton, as he discusses the prehistoric domestication of goosefoot by Native Americans in the Ohio Valley ca. 5000 years ago and how this plant offers solutions to contemporary food insecurity. Patton is an archaeobotanist, and the Director of the OU Archaeological Field School.
