Clinical Program Celebrates 100% Internship Match for 5 Years Running

For the fifth year in a row, every Clinical Psychology student who applied for internship was successful in securing placement during the first phase of the matching process.

Fewer than 10 percent of the nation’s psychology departments have a 100 percent match rate in each of the last five years.

“Despite around 30 percent of students nationwide failing to match to an internship site, our students continue to be successful!” says Dr. Julie Suhr, Director of Clinical Training. “Congratulations to our clinical students and their faculty advisers!”

The doctoral training program in Clinical Psychology is organized according to a scientist-practitioner model, training students intensively in clinical skills and research. The program has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1970. The program requirements include coursework, clinical practica, independent research, and an internship.

A one-year clinical internship at an APA-approved facility is required prior to graduation. The internship usually is served during the terminal year of the program. See Recent Internship Placements.
