“Osteopathic medicine physicians work in partnership with patients to help them achieve a high level of wellness by focusing on health education, injury prevention and disease prevention. They receive extra training in the musculoskeletal system—the body’s interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones that makes up two-thirds of one’s body mass. This training provides osteopathic physicians with a better understanding of how an illness or injury in one part of the body can affect other parts,” the medical center reports.
