The new Transcultural Encounters and Border Crossings Film Series presents Palestinian filmmaker Abu-Assad’s Paradise Now (2005) on Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m. at the Athena Cinema.
Admission is free.
Paradise Now follows two Palestinian childhood friends who have been recruited for a strike on Tel Aviv and focuses on their last days together. When they are intercepted at the Israeli border
and separated from their handlers, a young woman who discovers their plan causes them to reconsider their actions.
Dr. Michael Gillespie and Dr. Katarzyna Marciniak provide film introductions.
The Film Series was made possible by a generous support from the College of Arts & Sciences and a committed work by Alexandra Kamody from the Athena and Lorraine Wochna, Ohio University librarian for the Humanities. Making and Breaking the Law and Wealth and Poverty curricular themes are sponsoring the series to help us publicize the screenings.
