Summer Law & Trial Institute students at the Supreme Court of Ohio
The Center for Law, Justice & Culture is accepting applications for up two program assistants for the virtual Summer Law & Trial Institute which will run July 7 – 15, 2022.
The application deadline for the positions is April 27. These are paid position for the duration of the program.
The Summer Law & Trial Institute is an 8-day immersive program for high school students from Southeastern Ohio that aims to increase their understanding of the law and its possibilities. The program also seeks to foster an interest in all aspects of legal education, service, and issues and to create the next generation of legal, advocacy, and community professionals.
Each program assistant position will:
- Be assigned a group of high school institute participants.
- Serve as undergraduate mentors to high school students.
- Assist in daily program operations and facilitation of program.
- Serve as first point of contact of students.
- Assist in mock trial preparation and organization
Program Assistants will work closely with SLTI Program Director Larry Hayman, Esq. as well as with other attorneys and judges and will have the opportunity to participate in site observations, including to the Supreme Court of Ohio and ACLU of Ohio.

This position is ideal for students academically and professionally interested in law, justice and culture, especially those with mock trial experience.
Students must successfully pass a background check, be enrolled at Ohio University in Fall 2022, and must be in Athens on July 15, 2022.
