The Washington Post quoted Dr. Ryan Fogt in an article headlined “Sea ice over Antarctica just shrank to its smallest on record.”
“It’s the first time on satellite record that we’ve had sea ice extent fall below 2 million square kilometers. It’s a record and by quite a bit,” said Ryan Fogt, a climate scientist and an associate professor at Ohio University.
Fogt is professor of Geography in OHIO’s College of Arts & Sciences.
Read more about his recent study, published in Nature Climate Change, which is the first to detail sea ice extent surrounding the entire continent though all four seasons over the last century. Weather, especially winds and temperatures, contribute to sea ice changes.
