The Linguistics Colloquium series present Dr. Mike Dombroski discussing “Microsoft Teams and Instruction: A Practical Guide” on Friday, Oct. 1, from 12:55 to 1:50 p.m. in Gordy 301 or via Microsoft TEAMS.

Contact Dr. David Bell, linguistics chair, belld@ohio.edu, for questions about watching.

Dombroski is an Instructional Technologist in the Office of Informational Technology and an Ohio University alumnus of the M.A. in Linguistics program.

Abstract: Today’s environment requires that instructors be flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing environments and situations in order to instruct students in a variety of ways. Videoconferencing apps are easy to use and widely available to offer this flexibility for instructors to use for their classroom. OHIO supports Microsoft Teams as a way for instructors to communicate and help instruct students in online, hybrid, or other environments. This presentation will give an overview of the Teams app, its features, and some tips and tricks for using it for instruction. While the focus will be on using Teams, many of the concepts can be applied using other videoconferencing apps.

About Linguistics’ 50th Anniversary Celebration

“We are really looking forward to everyone joining us this year, either live in person or via Microsoft TEAMS to celebrate our anniversary,” said Bell, who also invited alumni and friends to add their names to the donor wall by making a gift, of whatever amount, to the Linguistics Department’s crowdfunding campaign.

He noted that all funds go to support our students’ registration and travel expenses to conferences where they will present their research.

“And please stay in touch! Send us a message on our Linguistics FB page at https://www.facebook.com/LingDeptOHIO,” he added.
