Ohio University student Kristina Saraceno was named the Sociology-Criminology Outstanding Graduating Senior by the Sociology & Anthropology Department.

Saraceno majored in Sociology-Criminology.

Dr. Thomas Vander Ven, Professor of Sociology, had Saraceno in his sociological theory course last fall.

“She is one of the most outstanding students I’ve ever encountered in the course,” he said. “Tina developed a sophisticated grasp of theoretical models and submitted a variety of insightful writing assignments that demonstrated an outstanding ability to apply sociological theory to everyday life.”

Dr. Charlie Morgan, Associate Professor of Sociology, had Saraceno in two of his classes, both his research methods class and his capstone class.

“I have been impressed with her attention in class, as well as the quality of work she has produced. She is a model student in all respects. In addition to having her in class, I hired Tina to transcribe some interviews for my research project. I have hired many transcribers over the years and they usually either don’t do many interviews, or do sloppy work. Tina not only did excellent work, but completed all of the transcriptions I needed, and would have done more had I had more to do. I can easily say that she is the best transcriber I have ever had, outperforming even graduate students!”
