Ecolunch | Undergraduates on Flies, Bird Blow Flies & Non-Biting Midges, Feb. 12

Ecolunch presents three students in an “Undergraduate Extravaganza” on Feb. 12 from 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Irvine 159.

The three students are working with Dr. Bekka S. Brodie, Assistant Professor of Instruction in Biological Sciences and OHIO Honors Coordinator.

Evelyn Blakeman, a second-year student double majoring in Plant Biology and Marine, Freshwater, and Environmental Biology, presents “Are Flies ‘Pollen” Their Weight? Data mining social media for information on fly (Diptera) pollinators.”

Mitch Duffner, a fourth-year Honors Tutorial Student majoring in Biological Sciences, presents “Flash-mobbing and polarized pickiness: exploring novel visual cues for the control of nuisance non-biting midges.”

Ecolunch is a long-running Ohio University seminar series that meets on Wednesdays from 11:50 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Irvine 159. All seminars are open to the public.
