A Teach-In about what’s happening in India, the Citizenship Act, and Settler Colonialism in Kashmir is Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Bentley 132.

The Teach-In will feature Dr. Brian Collins, Associate Professor of World Religions, Dr. Haley Duschinski, Director of the Center for Law, Justice & Culture and Associate Professor of Anthropology, and via Skype, Dr. Saugata Bhaduri, Professor at the Centre for English Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India.

This panel will cover three issues that are currently redefining politics and identity in India: The introduction of the Citizenship Amendment Act and the backlash it produced, including the all-female occupy movement at Shaheen Bagh; the government’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status in August of 2019, the subsequent occupation of the region, and its aftermath; 3. and student protests and violent counterprotests at JNU, Aligarh Muslim University, and other places.
