Café Conversations presents Dr. Luke Pittaway discussing “Spaces for Entrepreneurship Education: A New Campus Arms Race?” on Feb. 26 at 5 p.m. in the Co-Lab on the third floor of Alden Library.
Entrepreneurship is an essential part of the economy; 85 percent of new jobs are created by startups. And universities are leading the way. Notable trends have included the expansion of entrepreneurship education across campuses. More recently, universities have made substantial investments to build new infrastructure to enhance entrepreneurship and innovation activities.
The Co-Lab, located in Alden Library, opened in 2018 with the mission to enable and empower students to live and grow through creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Pittaway, O’Bleness Professor of Management Systems at Ohio University, will discuss entrepreneurship education and infrastructure. He will review case studies and consider the critical parameters that enable creativity and innovation in these university entrepreneurial education spaces.
Science Café events are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center. They are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Science Café is a venue for students to share their interests informally during a conversation exchange in a friendly setting.
The Science Café is hosted by Dr. David Ingram, Professor and Chair of Physics & Astronomy, and Roxanne Malé-Brune, Director of Grant Development and Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creativity.
Science Café and Café Conversations are sponsored by the Office of Vice President for Research and Creativity and the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi.
