Science Café kicks off Spring 2020 with Dr. Daniel Karney discussing “The Future of Climate Change Policy” on Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center.

Karney is Assistant Professor of Economics at Ohio University.

What are the prospects for a national policy? What are the potential impacts? What is the policy blueprint? What is the cost of doing nothing?

Climate policy is complex. Restraining greenhouse gas emissions has the potential to impact many parts of society. Therefore, the choice of policy design will be critical.

Karney conducts economics-based analyses that inform the debate on this complicated issue.

At his Science Café, Karney will help answer these and other questions about U.S. climate policy.

Science Café events are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center. They are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Science Café is a venue for students to share their interests informally during a conversation exchange in a friendly setting.

The Science Café is hosted by Dr. David Ingram, Professor and Chair of Physics & Astronomy, and Roxanne Malé-Brune, Director of Grant Development and Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creativity.

Science Café and Café Conversations are sponsored by the Office of Vice President for Research and Creativity and the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi.
