The Ohio University NQPI Seminar Series presents Dr. Faiz Rahman on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 4:10 p.m. in Clippinger Labs 194.
Rahman is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Ohio University.
Abstract: This talk will broadly showcase my areas of research interest – past, present and near-future. In particular, I’ll describe my interests in devices that emit and detect light (although a few other areas will also be included in this presentation). I’ll touch upon light detection with both semiconductor and superconductor devices. The former include spectrally-tuneable and hyperspectral sensors whereas the latter include broadband superconducting bolometers and narrowband super-semi-super quantum well devices. On the emitter side, I plan to discuss new LED designs as well as laser-pumped illumination sources. In each case, I’ll try to describe the science, fabrication technology and potential applications of these devices.
