The Contemporary History Institute and the George Washington Forum present Dr. Jeremy Black discussing “Brexit in Historical Perspective” on Monday, Nov. 4, at 6 p.m. in Baker Theater at Ohio University.
Black is Professor of History at the University of Exeter. He studied at Queens’ College Cambridge, St John’s College Oxford, and Merton College Oxford before joining the University of Durham as a lecturer in 1980. He joined Exeter University as Established Chair in History in 1996.
He is a prolific lecturer and writer, the author of over 100 books. Many concern aspects of eighteenth century British, European, and American political, diplomatic, and military history but he also has published on the history of the press, cartography, warfare, culture and on the nature and uses of history itself. His most recent books are Imperial Legacies: The British Empire Around the World, (2019) and English Nationalism: A Short History (2018).
