Students and faculty presented their research posters to other students interested in getting involved in research projects in the Biological Sciences at the annual research fair hosted by Ohio University’s TriBeta (Beta Beta Beta) chapter on Oct. 15.

The main goal of the Research Fair is to give students opportunities to learn about the types of research and how to get involved in a research project. This event is a great way for students to network with faculty members in the department and get the word out around campus about the TriBeta chapter and everything it has to offer.

The Research Fair is one of the two main faculty events TriBeta hosts throughout the academic year. Their spring event consists of a faculty dinner where students and staff have the opportunity to collaborate and reminisce about the school year. This takes place at a local restaurant here in Athens. It is essential for students to familiarize themselves with the faculty members within the department.

Outside of research and their biweekly meetings, this chapter gets very involved by volunteering in the Athens community. They participate in the Athens Glorification Day, group hikes, and various other service and social events.

Tri Beta is Ohio University’s National Biological Sciences Honors Society. To join, students need to be an undergraduate student with either a major or minor in biology. The main goal of Tri Beta is to get all students involved in the research they are interested in—and a way to bring students and faculty together. There are currently 70 to 80 active members within the chapter.
