The Algebra Seminar series meets twice this week, with meetings on Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Thursday, Oct. 10, from from 5 to 6 p.m. in Morton 313.
The speaker on Tuesday is Aaron Nicely, a Mathematics teaching assistant, continues a series of presentations about Left Braces. Left Braces are an algebraic structure that generalizes Jacobson radical rings and are useful to find solutions to the Yang-Baxter equations.
Cesar Orellana continues his lecture series on Thursday. He has been presenting Krull dimension and extending the classical definitions for rings into modern versions for modules and lattices. His lecture series aims at providing the necessary components to eventually share with us the results in his upcoming doctoral defense at UNAM, Mexico.
