The year’s third installment of a local reading series, Spoken & Heard: Poetry of Departure and Relevance, takes place on May 9 at The Dairy Barn Arts Center in Athens.
The reading will feature two of Kentucky’s best: Ron Houchin, winner of the Appalachian Book of the Year in Poetry, and the Weatherford Award for Poetry; and Art Stringer, author of four collections of poetry.
Opening for Houchin and Stringer is Athens poet Dan Canterbury. The Spoken and Heard series is curated by Athens Poet Laureate Kari Gunter-Seymour.
Doors open 5:30 p.m. All events begin at 6 p.m. and conclude at 9 p.m. A cash bar will be available.
