Ohio University alum Jessica Cyders ’06, curator of the Southeast Ohio History Center, becomes the its executive director on April 15, reports the Athens Messenger.
She earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from the College of Arts & Sciences.
Jessica Cyders will become the new executive director on Monday, April 15. She takes the place of Tom O’Grady, who had been in the executive role since 2014.

O’Grady will become the history center’s director of development and outreach. He led the museum’s move from Court Street to its current location at 24 W. State St. in Athens back in 2017.
He has also served as an Ohio University instructor of astronomy for more than 30 years.
“The Southeast Ohio History Center has entered a new era working with neighboring communities championing the rich local history of the region,” O’Grady stated in the news release. “I am delighted with the enthusiasm and exuberance that Jessica Cyders brings to the effort and look forward to working with her as she moves into her new position as Executive Director. We have a lot of exciting work ahead.”
