Alumni News | Taylor Joins Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation

Dr. Jimmy D Taylor

Ohio University alum Dr. Jimmy D. Taylor ’88 is a board-certified medical oncologist who brings more than 30 years of medical experience to the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, according to a news release in Medical Health News.

Taylor began his undergraduate education at Ohio University, where he earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences Pre-Medicine/Zoology and a minor African American Studies from the College of Arts & Sciences.

He then completed his medical education at Howard University, College of Medicine, Washington, D.C., followed by graduate education at Johns Hopkins University, School of Hygiene & Public Health in Baltimore, M.D. where he enrolled in the MPH program.

Taylor completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Harlem Hospital Center in New York and Franklin Square Hospital and South Baltimore General Hospital in Baltimore. He received his fellowship training from the Department of Medicine’s Division of Hematology-Oncology at Michigan State University. He has several peer-reviewed publications.

Taylor is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the National Medical Association and the African Organization Research Training in Cancer.

“Taylor believes strongly in educating his patients and providing them and their family with individualized treatment plans that are designed based on the type of tumor/disease, the patient’s wish, and their social circumstance,” says the new release.
