Science Café presents a discussion of the Ohio University Museum Complex, including interaction with faculty and students from across the campus as they demonstrate the art and science of collaboration, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center.
As part of the Café, presenters will discuss upcoming programs, including a glimpse into the mAppAthens project, a web-based app for outdoor exploration.
The OHIO Museum Complex collaborates with the Kennedy Museum of Art on the Ridges Green, connecting science and the environment with creativity and everyday life. Transdisciplinary exhibits and programs are dedicated to interactive exploration of contemporary issues. The teaching museum model enhances science literacy and promotes health and well-being for the Ohio University community, as well as the greater community in southeastern Ohio and throughout the region.
What do creativity, fossils, plants in outer space, ecotourism, augmented reality, local biodiversity, zoo-archaeology, biofuels and wellness have in common? All are topics pursued by faculty and students involved in the OHIO Museum Complex. Using exhibitions, outdoor programming and interactive learning laboratories, members of this diverse team engage in place-based learning in southeastern Ohio and beyond.
Science Café events are held on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Front Room at Baker University Center. They are free and open to students, faculty and staff. Science Café is a venue for students to share their interests informally during a conversation exchange in a friendly setting.
The Science Café is hosted by Dr. Sarah Wyatt, Professor of Environmental & Plant Biology and Vice President of the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi, and Roxanne Malé-Brune, Director of Grant Development and Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Research and Creativity.
Science Café and Café Conversations are sponsored by the Office of Vice President for Research and Creativity and the Ohio University Chapter of Sigma Xi.
