Students are encouraged to apply for the Student Trustee position on the Ohio University Board of Trustees.
The application closes Jan. 31, and the only requirements are that applicants must be residents of Ohio, be in good standing with the University, and be at Ohio University for two or more years.
Being a student trustee is a great way to make connections, have experience looking at large budgets, and ensure that the views of students are heard in all Board meetings. “The Board of Trustees is the ultimate decision-making body at Ohio University. The Board is charged with the responsibility of seeing to the legitimate interests of Ohio University’s various constituencies, while also being held accountable to Ohio University’s mission, cultural heritage, values, principles, and public interest,” says the Student Trustee application webpage.
“Student Trustees have a unique responsibility to ensure that the views of students are heard in Board deliberations. They are also responsible for sharing the Board’s perspectives on University issues with the student population. In performing both of these functions, they are called to keep in mind the needs of all constituencies within the University. In addition to attending Board of Trustee meetings, the Student Trustees also are on the board of Student Legal Services and Budget Planning Council. If you are interested in learning more what the Board does, the next Board of Trustee meeting is January 17 and 18.”
