Abstract: I will be focusing on results from recent experiments conducted at the Edwards Accelerator Laboratory the last couple of years. The first one was devoted to study of the deuteron break up reaction with 15 MeV neutrons. This experiment was originally motivated by developing of the neutron diagnostics of deuteron-triton plasma created by laser beams at the National Ignition Facility. This reaction is also interesting from point of view of developing few-body theory of nuclear reactions. Review of available experimental information, theoretical calculations and first results obtained at the Edwards Laboratory will be presented. The second experiment studied the level density of 74,76Ge isotopes from proton evaporation spectra of the 68,70Zn (7Li,Xp) reactions. The level density is known as most uncertain input in reaction cross section calculations which use statistical Hauser-Feshbach model. The problem of accurate inputs for calculations of astrophysical reaction rates becomes important as heavier nuclei are involved in creation of elements especially those off of the stability line. Current level density models used in calculations are highly uncertain. Experiment showed significant deviation of level densities obtained from experiment compared to models used in modern reaction codes.
