WOUB interviewed Dr. Lauren Elliott-Dorans, Assistant Lecturer of Political Science at Ohio University, about low voter turnout among young people.
“Some of it is the misconception among youth voters that politics isn’t relevant at this stage in life,” said Elliott-Dorans.
“Any time we can make politics tangibly relevant to somebody is important…. Young people tend to be doers more than they are voters. Where as young people are much less likely to vote, they are more likely to be active in terms of civic organizations.”
