Ohio University alum and 2017 Food and Society Certificate recipient Alexandria Polanosky ’17 produced a video, Seed Saving in the Andean Context, for the “Seed Saving Practices in an Andean Context” project.
Polansky earned a B.S. in Visual Communication from Scripps College of Communication.
This video highlights the field research conducted on local and small-scale seed saving practices in communities surrounding Quito, Ecuador.
The video builds off a wonderful collaborative project between Dr. Rommel Montúfar of Pontíficia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, Michael Ayala of the Universidad Central del Ecuador, and Ohio University partners.
These seed saving initiatives are a part of an interdisciplinary project built on an ongoing successful collaboration of OHIO’s English Language Improvement Program, Food Studies theme, Environmental & Plant Biology Department, PUCE, and the Universidad Central del Ecuador.
The project is funded by an OHIO Innovation Strategy planning grant, with Dr. Dawn Bikowski, Director of the English Language Improvement Program, as PI and Dr. Theresa Moran, Food Studies Director, as Co-PI, and with the collaboration of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs, Dr. LJ Edmonds, and Director of the Tropical Disease Institute, Dr. Mario Grijalva.
