The Athens Messenger writes about Ohio University alum Dr. Sergio A. Ulloa in a story headlined “Local doctor gives $50K to Alexander Rec Center project.”
Ulloa earned a B.S. in Chemistry Pre-Medicine from the College of Arts & Sciences and a D.O. from the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.
ALBANY — An orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist from Athens has given a $50,000 gift to the soon-to-open Alexander Recreational Center, and in return will receive naming rights for the weight room.
Sergio A. Ulloa, who has practiced orthopedic medicine and surgery for 11 years, provided the gift that was recently announced during the May 21 regular meeting of the Alexander Board of Education. The gift has been accepted by the Alexander Athletic Boosters — officially known as the Spartan Athletic Club.

Joking that he graduated from Athens High School and not at Alexander, Ulloa said he is “a little reluctant to make Spartans stronger, but as an Athenian I am proud to improve our community and kids’ health.”
