Check your closet. Do you have a suit or a dress that you’re not wearing anymore?
Spring cleaning is a great time to donate professional clothes to Ohio University’s Career Closet, where students preparing for interviews and job fairs can “shop” at no cost. Students are free to borrow or keep the clothes they select from the closet.
Alumni and community members can donate professional and business casual clothing to the Career and Leadership Development Center’s Career Closet.
How to Donate Professional Clothes
Donations of lightly used, professional clothes can be delivered to the Career and Leadership Development Center, located at Baker University Center 533.
The mailing address is OHIO Career and Leadership Development Center, 1 Ohio University, Athens, OH, 45701.
“If you’re planning on coming to campus in the future, maybe for Homecoming, plan on donating to the Clothes Closet,” says Lisa Cohen, Director of External Relations for the College of Arts & Sciences.
Due to the rapid turnover in inventory and the consistent need for new sizes and styles, monetary donations also are welcome. For more information, contact Zach Graman at CLDC_CareerCloset@ohio.edu.
Making the Job Search Less Stressful
“The Career Closet is an exciting addition to the CLDC,” Kacey Schaum, Assistant Director of the career center. “The internship and job search is already a stressful time for our students, so I am glad that our office and campus community can take the worry of buying new interview clothing away for those who need the resource.”
“Anyone can donate business casual and business professional items to the CLDC Career Closet by dropping them off at our office on the fifth floor of Baker University Center. We are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” she adds.
The Career Closet is open both for shopping and for donations during the summer term. For more information, email CLDC_CareerCloset@ohio.edu.
