Ohio University once again hosted the Southeastern Ohio District 12 Science Fair on March 24 at Clippinger Laboratories.
Students in grades 5 to 12 from Athens, Hocking, Jackson, Meigs, Morgan, Ross and Vinton counties who received a superior rating at their local science fair participated in the event. Dr. Natalie Kruse, Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Program in the Voinovich School of Leadership & Public Affairs, and Dr. Mark Lucas, Associate Professor of Physics & Astronomy, organized this year’s district science day.
Dr. Michael Grant, Lecturer in Psychology, served as head judge for the Behavioral & Social Science category. Additionally, a dozen graduate and undergraduate students from the Psychology Department volunteered to be judges.
Twenty-two students participated in the Behavioral and Social Science category. Nora Anderson, Alexa West, Emma Powers, and Marie Souther all received superior ratings. Elizabeth Henson, Dylan Wolfe, Anh Nguyen, and Carson Lane are also recognized for their excellent ratings.
Student projects receiving a superior rating have the opportunity to advance to State Science Day in Columbus in May.
