The Psychology Colloquium Series presents Dr. Debbie Ma on “The Weight of Physical Features – An Expert-Based Explanation for Cross-Race Effects” on Friday, April 27, at 11:50 a.m. in Porter 102.

Ma received her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Chicago in 2011. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University-Northridge.

Ma’s research focuses on social psychological phenomena related to stereotyping and prejudice. She examines the ways in which race shapes thoughts, influences judgments, and impacts behavior. Currently, she is investigating how physical features that signal racial category membership influence downstream social cognitive processes like stereotyping and prejudice. Ma is also investigating different aspects of how individuals process human faces.
