The Athens Messenger quoted Dr. Ryan Fogt, Associate Professor of Geography, in a story headlined “More rain than usual this year for Athens.”
Fogt also is director of Ohio University’s Scalia Laboratory for Atmospheric Analysis.
Scalia Lab Director Ryan Fogt uses data from Parkersburg’s National Weather Service measuring station for better long-term averages in the Athens area. As of Thursday there has 2.15 inches of precipitation this month in Parkersburg — 1.7 inches over the normal amount.
As the “April Showers” line goes, more precipitation is expected to come.
“We’ve already had a very wet start,” Fogt said. “It wouldn’t take too much more rain to push us over the edge.”
